Our Mission

Our Organisations overall aim is to relieve women of Turkish Cypriot/Turkish origin who are in need due to hardship and distress. Our aim is to provide a unique and individualised service geared for the enhancement and advancement of women.

TURKISH CYPRIOT WOMEN’S PROJECT

“Today’s youth tomorrows women”

TCWP the only Turkish Cypriot Women’s organisation working to better the future of our forgotten community. Does being a settled community forfeit rights to access services other Black/Minority Ethnic communities are given? Our organisation believes that we need to break down the barriers faced by our youth and challenge this misconceived view that our community is “doing alright”To ensure that our young generation are provided with the opportunity to empower and work towards their aspirations.

Elderly members of the Turkish Cypriot community have become increasingly isolated as a result of the changing structure of the family unit along the lines of mainstream British society. This can be very difficult for a traditional community based around the extended family and the changing structure has been a more recent development in the UK Cypriot community.

One of our main aims it to seek to address this isolation in providing a culturally sensitive service to our users within a framework of social activities, advice provision, seminars and healthy living initiatives.
