We are extremely fortunate to have received funding to provide keep-fit classes for our more mature clients from Haringey Healthy Living.

“ The facilities are so clean, I like coming here.  They are so organised”

“ I did complain that the keep-fit classes were blocking our time here on Fridays.  The Co-ordinator changed it.  You don’t often see things like that happening anywhere else”.

“It is like they are so house-proud.  The always want the best for us, clean, hospitable and friendly”.

“ I am a widow, and when I first started coming to the luncheon club, I did not know anyone.  But now I have made friends, I meet them outside the centre too.  It has made a difference to my life”.

We believe that these comments are all valuable learning tools for us as individuals, our perception, beliefs and prejudices affect people.  We as a society need to encourage and support each generation to participate fully within society.

A small amount of funding this project goes along way.

A supportive environment where elderly people can meet and make new friends every Friday.

This project is entirely run by volunteers, mixed elderly coming together to have lunch, play bingo and develop knowledge on rights through professionals who come in to hold talks of vital importance.

Text Box: “The keep-fit classes are one of the best activities I have participated in—Thank you for providing this service to us”
“ I now walk to the keep-fit classes, perhaps a few weeks ago I would have taken the bus”.
I am still the same person I was 30 years ago, but people look at me as what I represent as me today—old externally. I like having fun, and being me without being judged as old.
“If I sit at home and do nothing, I represent the stereotypical view of being old”.
It’s more fun doing things in a group, you learn from each other, but if you make a mistake, no one laughs, everybody supports each other”
“We are all going to go swimming together, I have always wanted to go, but I was always embarrassed to go alone”.

As we get older, we need to maintain an active life.  But we also want it to be fun.
